I  meant to listen to that voice note

But I said I’d listen later

I remembered the sink was full 

then my stomach growled and I searched the pantry

The oatmeal was expired

The bread was being smushed by the peanut butter

On my way to put the trash bin I tripped over all the shoes accumulating near the door

I couldn't decide if it had been warm enough to put my UGGs away for the season

So I left them out just in case

I mean they were already there for four months

Why was I wasting so much time on this decision? 

The sink is still full

I am still hungry

I completely reorganized the pantry

wait

that wasn't even on my to-do list

I meant to listen to that voice note

I just didn’t really want to

I read faster than you speak

I lose track of what you are saying

I get lost without reading your lips

I miss the body language and miss the point

I listen eventually, cause I know, that you know, I hate voice notes

so it must be important

so it must be brief
